We love our dogs so much that they form part of our family. However, there will be times when you are left with no choice but to leave your pet buddy behind because it’s the right thing to do. There are more than a handful of situations where you really do not have that much of a choice. For example, you and the rest of the family are planning to spend the weekend on a beach holiday. Another reason is if you’re doing a major house renovation. In those cases, you cannot just forget about the well-being of your dog.
Fortunately, you do not have to worry about where you put your pet in times when you cannot take it with you. The solution comes in the form of a dog boarding facility. However, there are so many dog boarding facilities out there that choosing one could be overwhelming. It makes sense if you know what to look for in the best one.
You probably know several people who are dog owners, too. Chances are they brought their pets to a dog boarding facility at least once. It is best that you get recommendations from those people you trust the most because they wouldn’t recommend one if they did not have a good experience with it. If you cannot get enough recommendations, try visiting veterinary clinics since they most likely have brochures for a handful of local boarding kennels.
Book in Advance
Boarding kennels are busy and congested during holidays and long weekends. For instance, many dog owners send their pets to these dog boarding facilities in Christmas or summer vacations. If you’re doing the same, be sure you’re booking in advance so you don’t run out of options.
In the past, dog boarding facilities were so bare that they only offered basic dog run and cages. However, you now have a wide array of choices. In fact, there even are luxury pet suites with more amenities than you can imagine. For instance, you can choose a kennel that trains your dog while you are on vacation. You also can choose a very private dog boarding facility where your pet mingles with the same breed. Furthermore, there are dog kennels that focus on grooming your dog. You’d be surprised with the changes to your fury friend once you get back. Of course, the better the amenities and services, the higher price you’d pay for them.
Things to Look For
When you’re buying something from a store, you always have a set of requirements to determine if a product indeed addresses your needs. The same thing holds true when choosing a dog boarding facility. There are several things you must look for, including but not limited to a friendly staff, hygienic and sanitary environment, large outdoor play area for dogs to play and socialize, multiple resting places, gate and fences, and security cameras. All these things must be present in the dog boarding facility you choose if you want your dog to be safe at all times while you are away.
